Gautam Buddha: Dharmachakra Mudra

When Siddharta Gautama attained enlightenment and came to be called as Lord Buddha, he used mudras or hand gestures to deliver the wisdom unto his disciples. This sandstone sculpture depicts the Lord showing Dharmachakra Mudra. It is performed by joining the thumb and index finger of both the hands at their tips while the other three fingers remain extended. The circle formed is symbolic to the wheel of dharma (dharmachakra) and the three fingers represent the three jewels of Buddhism- the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha. Bring home this sculpture to keep the teachings of Lord Buddha always at your core and walk in the path of dharma.
