It was imperative that he had a contingent of highly trained and exceptionally skilled courtesans to welcome and take care of his visitors and his guests. One such beauty serves as the muse for this exquisite sandstone sculpture. With her palms folded together in a gesture of welcoming a visitor to the kings court, the courtesan's trained bearing and inherent grace are expertly captured by the master craftsman's chisel, while her sensuality and poise are also highlighted through the adroit craftsmanship.
