The Para is a traditional measuring vessel, formally associated with paddy cultivation in Kerala. These exquisitely carved vessels are either made of brass or wood and form an important part of rituals during harvest festivals, where a para overflowing with paddy is presented as an offering to god in a gesture of thanksgiving. .
