Annapoorna Devi or Annapoorneshwari is considered to be an avatar of goddess Parvati, wife of Lord Shiva. It is said that a long time ago, Devi Parvati was offended by Lord Shiva's remark that "everything materialistic including food is Maya". To prove the importance of sustenance, the Goddess disappeared from the world and as a result, nature came to a standstill. However, she could not see the plight of her devotees and reappeared in Kashi. Lord Shiva, realising his mistake, rushed to her and begged for alms. This Kerala Mural depicts goddess Annapoorna in her resplendent glory after returning to Kashi, serving food to her devotees. This painting can be an excellent adornment to the abundance that flows through your dining room.

Saraswathi is revered all over the world as the Hindu Goddess of Wisdom, learning and knowledge. Revered as the 'Mother of the Vedas', Vedic scholars the world over begin and end sessions with an invocation to her. This intricately carved chalkstone sculpture showcases the key elements of the goddess' divine personality; a book representing wisdom and learning, a rosary symbolizing peace and meditation, a water pot to purify the right from the wrong and a veena to represent all the creative arts. The adroit craftsmanship on this beautiful sculpture captures the peace and inner glow of the goddess in a state of pure enlightenment and also conveys her serenity through her relaxed posture.
Carved out of white marble using centuries old Rajasthani artisanship, this sculpture can be entrenched in the Puja room or the living room.
Note: With respect to size, the statue can be custom made -- hand sculpted over a specific time frame.
In Indian culture, we always put teachers and purveyors of knowledge on a pedestal. For us, there is no learning endeavor that begins without the blessings of Goddess Saraswati. Seated here on a pedestal with the Veena in her arms, she represents the purity of mind that only learning and growth can bring. Standing testament to the artist’s creative ability is the rare representation of the Goddess in Blackstone.
We once had the opportunity to create a similar but customised sculpture for a client. You can read what she has to say about it here.
