Santoshi Mata is considered as the goddess who blesses with all sorts of satisfaction (Abhipriti in Sanskrit) or is the mother of satisfaction. Unlike many vedic gods, the worship of Santoshi Mata as a form of supreme being is more recent. The artistic representation that embodies benevolence as an epitome has helped gaining followers and popularity.The followers of the goddess perform vrata or devotional fast for 16 consecutive Fridays to have their wishes fulfilled. Carved out of green stone with all its fine details, this sclupture is a testimony to a rare artisanship of the distant past that has been kept alive by a group of extremley skilled artisans.
